This weekend’s League Two action begins with a top of the table clash as leaders Notts County take on 5th place Mansfield at Meadow Lane. Both sides are in excellent form and this has all the ingredients to be a blockbuster encounter.
To help you make the most from the betting odds for the game, our expert sports betting writers have produced an exclusive tip. This tip looks at the recent form of both teams, as well as looking at many of the key statistics relating to the game.
It seems hard to believe that Notts County started the season with a 5-1 thumping at lowly Sutton United. But since then, they have produced some thrilling football to win seven of their following 11 games. Their only defeat during this run has been a bizarre 5-4 loss to Colchester, in a game which produced a remarkable seven goals in the first half.
Goals have been flowing at both ends during County games. Their tally of 27 is the second highest in the division, however, the 21 goals they have conceded means they also have one of the worst defensive records in League Two.
Despite being four places below County, Mansfield remain the only unbeaten team in League Two. A key part of this record has been their impressive defensive performance, which has seen them concede just 9 goals in 12 games, easily the best record in the division.
At the other end of the pitch, the goals appear to have dried up for the Silkmen. They have managed just one in their last three games, and they come into this match off the mark of successive 0-0 draws. As good as their defence has been they need to start finding the back of the net again if they are to continue to challenge for promotion.
The head to head between these two teams stands at 20-19 in favour of Mansfield. However, this will be the team’s first encounter in four years. County were the victors on that occasion, but that is their only success in the last eight meetings between the sides.
League leaders Notts County are 13/10 favourites to claim all three points. The draw is priced at 3/1, and you can get 21/10 on an away win for Mansfield.
It’s hard to back against a win for the in-form Magpies, but that is exactly what we are doing with our betting bonus tip for the game. We just can’t bet on a Mansfield defeat at the minute. They’ve conceded just twice in their last seven games and, despite lacking much of an attacking threat, they are proving virtually impossible to beat.
There’s a bit of value in backing the Silkmen at 21/10, but, in our opinion, the best value bet for this game is the draw at 3/1.
