The 2026 Super League season comes to a close on Saturday with Warrington Wolves taking on Wakefield Trinity in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.
For the second season in succession, there will be a new name on the Grand Final Trophy. Hull Kingston Rovers won the Grand Final for the first time in 2025, while neither Warrington or Wakefield have ever won the Grand Final.
Below you will find my Grand Final match preview, some interesting stats and my tips on who will be victorious at Old Trafford.
Having backed Warrington Wolves to beat Leeds Rhinos on the road last weekend to book a place in the Grand Final, I was feeling quite smug, but I soon came crashing down to earth when Wakefield dumped out Wigan Warriors a day later.
It was arrogance or cockiness that I though Wigan would win, they had not lost since May and I truly believed they would have the better of Wakefield over the 80 minutes. I was wrong. Trinity were outstanding and fully deserved their win. Yes, there were some talking points, but over 80 minutes the better team made it to the Grand Final - The question is can they go on and win it?
I expect fans of every Super League team apart from Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers will be cheering on Wakey this Saturday. The Wolves have become the butt of all jokes with fans chanting 'It's always your year' at them seeing as they haven't been crowned champions since 1955.
They could have the last laugh and become the sixth name on the Grand Final Trophy and end a lifetime of hurt, while Wakefield could become the most hated team in Super League by not being able to stop Warrington end their rut.
This is difficult to call. Warrington are a brilliant side, coached by Sam Burgess. They have the likes of George Williams. Ben Currie, Matty Ashton, Danny Walker and Albert Hopoate, and probably have the better team on paper. However, if Wakefield perform like they did against Wigan, then they could blow Warrington away.
The only change to Warrington's squad from last week is Jordy Crowther coming in for Max Wood. This means Cai Taylor-Wray is in with a chance of returning for the first time since September 11. He has had his injury struggles and Burgess has been reluctant to throw him back in. I do not expect him to play, and I feel Josh Thewlis will start at fullback.
Jazz Tevaga has been cleared to play despite being charged for a trip on Wigan's Liam Marshall. He only received three penalty points, which meant he did not pass the six point threshold that warrents a ban. Coach Daryl Powell has named the same 21-man squad he took to Wigan.
Personally, I would like Wakefield to win, but I think it is a game to far for them. They put everything they had into that win over the Warriors, and I am not sure they can do it again.
I am backing Warrington to win by 11-15 points with Matty Ashton and Albert Hopoate scoring for them, while I expect Tom Johnstone to score for Wakefield to hopefully cement his place in the England World Cup squad a couple of days later. For the Rob Burrow Award for man of the match, I am backing George Williams to end his Wire career on a high and take out the top personal accolade from the game.

This is a new section I have added to my rugby league tips. These are some of the personal bets I place each weekend. I choose the Super League games I want to watch - normally all of them that do not clash with Wigan - and I place a four player try scorer acca on each game. I do not think there will be a lot of tries scored, but I will do a four player acca with two from each team any way.
