After another round of domestic league fixtures, the second international break commences this week. This break marks the halfway stage of the European World Cup qualifiers, and for today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture between Scotland and Israel in Group F.
Scotland will be looking to carry the momentum from their last international break when they take on Israel this weekend. The Scots won two games out of three during the last break and lifted themselves to second in Group F.
Scotland’s qualifying hopes will be boosted by their clean bill of health for their upcoming fixtures. Scott McTominay returns after his recent injury troubles and Stuart Armstrong is included despite his lack of football through a calf problem.
Much like Scotland, Israel won two of their three games during the last international break. However, their most recent qualifier was a humbling 5-0 defeat at the hands of table-toppers Denmark. A win for Israel would see them leapfrog Scotland in Group F entering the homestretch of qualifiers.
Israel, much like Scotland, has a strong squad to choose from for the upcoming qualifiers. Star striker Eran Zahavi remains the main goal threat for Israel whilst other key players like Munas Dabbur and Manor Solomon are fit to play.
In recent years, Israel against Scotland has been a frequent fixture on the international stage. This will be the fifth meeting between the sides in 13 months, and they usually share the spoils. Scotland and Israel have drawn three of the last five meetings - winning one each in the other two fixtures.
These two sides seem difficult to separate. Their history of draws alongside their lack of goals means fans should expect a low scoring encounter at Hampden Park. We’re predicting, as history suggests, a draw between Scotland and Israel with Ladbrokes at 9/4.
