It’s a north London derby in the Premier League on Sunday, with Arsenal making the short trip across the capital to face table-topping Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is unbeaten in his last 10 meetings with Arsenal, while Spurs have won four and drawn two of their last six home games against the Gunners. Spurs striker Harry Kane has netted goals in his last 10 games against Arsenal, and if he scores on Sunday he will become history’s highest scorer in competitive north London derbies, moving ahead of Emmanuel Adebayor and Bobby Smith.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will be hoping that he can improve his record against Spurs on Sunday. The Basque lost his first clash with Tottenham in the equivalent of this fixture last season. Only one other Arsenal boss lost his first two derbies with Spurs - Bertie Mee back in 1966/67. Arsenal have only lost consecutive matches against their north London rivals twic before, in May 1993 and November 2010.
Spurs are looking like they might well be serious contenders for the Premier League this season. Harry Kane is key to their chances, and he faces a race to be fit for Sunday’s game, with the England star being left out of Spurs’ Europa League game on Thursday. Mourinho has asserted that Kane has a good chance of playing. Erik Lamela and Toby Alderweireld look likely to miss out, though. For Arsenal, David Luiz cut his head last week and could be absent as a result.
Our featured tip for this game comes from William Hill, who are offering tempting odds of 6/1 on Spurs winning 1-0. We think that those odds look really tempting. Spurs are looking ever more solid in defence, having kept clean sheets against Manchester City and Chelsea. Harry Kane might well score the only goal.
