Tottenham Hotspur have not won the FA Cup since they beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 in 1991, but under manager Ange Postecoglou they have a great chance of winning their first piece of silverware since their Carabao Cup success back in 2008. Burnley have won this famous trophy once in their history back in 1914, and their last FA Cup Final appearance was in 1962 when they lost to Friday’s opponents Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur might be considered one of the top four in the Premier League these days, but the fact is they have not won a trophy in 16 years. That needs to change and quickly. The London club have eight FA Cup wins under their belt and have only been beaten in a final once – in 1987 against Coventry City. They have not reached an FA Cup Final since their last win in 1991 and that is criminal for a club the size of Spurs. With both the African Cup of Nations and the Asia Cup, Spurs will be without some key personnel. Son Heung-Min will be representing South Korea in Qatar, while Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma will be in the Ivory Coast for the African Cup of Nations.
Burnley need a break from the Premier League and a decent cup run could help transform their season. The Clarets are in the relegation places and have won just three games all season. They are massive underdogs for this cup tie, but stranger things have happened in the FA Cup. They have no personnel concerns regarding the African Cup of Nations or the Asia Cup. Owen Dodgson was recently recalled from his loan spell at League One side Barnsley, but despite training all week he is not expected to feature against Spurs.
Tottenham put five past Burnley in their most recent meeting back in September with Son scoring a hat-trick, so Vincent Kompany will be pleased he is not playing on Friday. Spurs have won five of their last six encounters in all competitions against the Clarets. Burnley’s last win over Tottenham was in the league in February 2022. Their last win in London was way back in 1974 back in the old First Division.

Even with key players on the sidelines or in a different country, Spurs should still have enough quality to record a comfortable victory over Burnley and win this tie inside 90 minutes. Check out these stats and best betting odds ahead of the game on Friday.
Our Betting Tip for Today- Richarlison to score 2+ goals – 6/1 @ BetUK
League form counts for nothing in the cup, but Spurs are clear favourites to win this tie. They can be backed at 12/25. The Clarets have struggled for wins this season and that is reflected in their price, they are on offer at 5/1. The draw is available at 33/10.
Burnley might not have to face Son this Friday, but they will come up against a revitalised Richarlison. The Brazilian international has been in fine form since returning to first-team action. He has scored five goals in his last five appearances for Spurs, and with Son away on international duty, it is time for the former Everton man to shine. I am backing him to find the net at least twice against Burnley.
