The Premier League continues this weekend, after a round of midweek fixtures. Teams are battling COVID, with the hectic Christmas period amongst us. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture in the Premier League this weekend between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Due to COVID-19, Tottenham Hotspur have had an inadvertent extended break. Their match with Brighton was called off at the weekend, and at the time of writing - they’ll return to action this midweek against Leicester City. Before the break, Antonio Conte had strung together three-straight wins.
For Tottenham Hotspur, COVID has run rampant throughout the squad. Bryan Gil, Sergio Reguilon, Emerson, Lucas Moura, and Heung Min Son were all confirmed to have contracted the virus and their fitness remains unknown.
As for Liverpool, they are the only team that can rival Manchester City with their current form. Jurgen Klopp’s team has five-straight wins before they meet Newcastle on Thursday evening, and they could be top on the weekend if they were to topple Tottenham and if results go their way.
Fortunately for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino has completely recovered from his thigh injury and he is able to start. In addition, Divock Origi and Curtis Jones are both questionable for the next two fixtures due to a knee and face injury respectively.
Liverpool have had an impressive run of fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds have won seven-straight against the Lilywhites and they’re unbeaten in eight. This includes a 2-0 victory in the Champions League final back in 2019.
However, this is a Tottenham Hotspur team with Antonio Conte at the helm. The Italian has a very even record against the ‘big six’ from his Chelsea days. He has eleven wins and eleven losses from his previous time in London against the six top teams in the Premier League, so Tottenham’s chances are better under new management.
Despite Tottenham’s new manager bolstering their chances, Liverpool are on a hot-streak that doesn’t have plans to cease. Jurgen Klopp’s side are grinding out victories without looking their best and we think they do that against Tottenham. We’re predicting Liverpool to get the away win and score first in the game at 73/50 with Ladbrokes.
