Even the most partisan Manchester United fan would have to agree that they were hugely fortunate to beat Wolves on matchday one. A controversial VAR decision denied the visitor a late penalty, and Wolves had the majority of the chances throughout the game. Despite the three points, it was a deeply unconvincing start to the season for United.

Under Erik Ten Hag, United progressed well last season and thoroughly deserved their top four finish. Whilst it’s hard to see them going toe-to-toe with Manchester City this term, Ten Hag will be confident of another Champions League finish to continue his rebuilding job.

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last five games against Tottenham Hotspur. The last match between the teams resulted in a 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but before that, United were on a four game winning run. Overall, they lead the head-to-head by 96 wins to 53, with 50 draws.
