Wales take on Croatia in a pivotal Euro 2024 qualifying game on Sunday evening in Cardiff. Despite a topsy-turvy campaign, Wales are still firmly in the hunt for a qualification spot, but will need to produce a huge performance to take points from one of Europe’s top teams.
Before you look at the betting odds for the game, make sure you read our exclusive tip. This tip has been put together by our sports betting experts and takes into account the form of both teams, plus a number of relevant statistics.
It’s been anything but plain sailing for Wales in Group D. A shock home defeat by Armenia put a huge dent in their prospects, but last month’s win in Latvia has kept their qualification hopes alive.
Manager Robert Page will take confidence from the 1-1 draw Wales achieved in Croatia at the beginning of the qualifying campaign. If they can replicate that result on Sunday, they will go into their final two group games still in with a chance of reaching next year’s tournament.
Whilst victory on Sunday will not seal qualification for Croatia, it will go a long way towards securing their place at Euro 2024. Aside from the aforementioned 1-1 draw with Wales, Croatia have a 100% record in Group D, so will go into Sunday’s game full of confidence.
Away from Euro qualifying, it has been a stellar 12 months for the Croatians. A third place finish at the World Cup was followed by a second place finish in the Nations League. Should they secure qualification, Croatia will go into next year’s tournament as one of the favourites.
The two sides have met seven times previously, with Croatia winning four times and three games ending in a draw. The last two competitive games between the sides have finished 1-1.
The latest odds for the game make Croatia 21/20 favourites for the win. The draw is available at 12/5, with Wales priced as 29/20 outsiders.
Our betting bonus tip for the game is for a third successive draw between the teams. Yes, Croatia have the better individual players, but backed by a partisan Cardiff crowd, we think Wales can do enough to secure a vital point.
If you fancy trying a slightly longer odds bet, we like the look of the 1-1 draw at 11/2. Both sides are capable of goals, but if the game is all square in the second half they might both be content with a point a piece.
