The Premier League continues this weekend, with an exciting round of fixtures before entering the second international break of the season.  For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important clash between West Ham United and Brentford at the London Stadium. 

West Ham United continued their impressive beginning to the 2021 Premier League season last weekend. A late Michail Antonio goal earned the Hammers all three points at Elland Road, snapping a three-game winless run. David Moyes’ side has to contend with European football before they return to the London Stadium to play Brentford this Sunday.

Despite their European ventures, West Ham United’s injury list has been small throughout the season so far. Before Sunday’s game against Brentford, barring injury midweek, the London side will only be missing right-back Ryan Fredericks.

Arguably the ‘surprise package’ of the 2021 Premier League season has been Brentford. The newly promoted side has made a dream start to life in the Premier League and this continued last weekend. The Bees fought to a thrilling 3-3 draw with former Premier League champions and their stock continued to rise. Thomas Frank’s team has shown they aren’t afraid of anyone before travelling to the London Stadium on Sunday.

Fortunately for Brentford, Shandon Baptiste can return to the side after serving his one-game suspension for receiving two yellow cards a fortnight ago. However, Ethan Pinnock is being assessed for a hip injury and has a 50% chance of starting.

These two sides have met 48 times in their history but many of these were during the 1910’s. West Ham United has had the slight edge historically with 22 wins whereas Brentford have only registered 15.

But these two sides haven’t faced off since 1993, in the League Division One, so this is a very different fixture than history suggests. Both these sides have made fantastic starts to the Premier League season and their league position reflects that. West Ham United are above Brentford in seventh on 11 points, whilst Brentford are two places lower on nine points.
