The Premier League continues this weekend, as the hectic December schedule kicks off with plenty of games for fans to enjoy . For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture in the Premier League this weekend between West Ham United and Chelsea at the London Stadium.
After last week's loss in Manchester, West Ham United have now suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season. They went toe-to-toe with Manchester City, only losing 2-1, but the fixture list hasn’t been kind to them because after Brighton midweek, they face the league leaders.
However, West Ham can take confidence because of their fully fit squad. They have one injury issue through Angelo Ogbonna. The Italian suffered a knee injury that requires surgery and he will be out for the foreseeable future. Aaron Cresswell is a doubt but a rest in midweek means he could return against Chelsea.
After back-to-back victories over Leicester and Juventus, Chelsea faltered against Manchester United last weekend. Jorginho rectified his mistake earlier in the game and levelled from the penalty spot. This draw left Chelsea top, however, with games against Watford and West Ham ahead, Chelsea could drop to third.
In good news, Chelsea are getting healthier. Romelu Lukaku returned to the bench on the weekend and played a cameo role, whilst Timo Werner was fit enough to play nearly 80 minutes upfront. Ben Chilwell and Mateo Kovacic are still long-term casualties.
In the last two years, these teams have split doing the double over each other. Chelsea dominated last year's fixtures - a 1-0 victory at the London Stadium and a commanding 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are also yet to lose a game away from home in this season so it seems a tough task for the Hammers to pick up the win.
As for West Ham, they stole the two victories during the 2019/20 campaign. David Moyes’ side won a 3-2 thriller at the London Stadium and they managed a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
With Chelsea's impressive away record, we are taking them to win or draw with the double chance market. But to boost the odds, we think they’ll be over 1.5 goals in the game and Chelsea will open the scoring with William Hill at 27/20.
