West Ham play host to Arsenal on Sunday and this London derby is always full of thrills and spills! West Ham are winless in the last 6 games in all competitions and will need to bounce back to form to take anything from this game. They have opened up at 5/1 whilst Arsenal are just 1/2 to win away from home.
The game could end up closer than the odds suggest here if West Ham find some decent form but Arsenal will be tough to beat in their current form. I have a betting suggestion but let’s take a look at both sides first.
West Ham had started this season in great form but that has slightly dropped off in recent weeks with the hammers only managing to take 3 points out of their last four games. If they manage to find their early season form they would have a chance of taking something from this game but they are really going to need to turn this around for that to happen.
Arsenal have been playing some really stylish football again this season and they will be desperate to take all three points from West Ham here. When the two teams last met in the Premier League, West Ham won 2-0 and Arsenal will not want to drop another 3 points to the hammers. I expect them to start faster this time round and will be hard to beat
Arsenal are definitely the most likely winners here and overall have a much better record than West Ham in the head to heads, but West Ham have beaten Arsenal in the last two meetings in all competitions which gives them hope. I expect this to be slightly closer than what the bookies suggest but I have a decent value selection which could be worth taking a punt on.
Arsenal are clearly playing better football but West Ham have become somewhat a bogey team for Arsenal and they do have a good chance here on their early season form. West Ham have also won the last two meetings as mentioned and I think Arsenal are going to have to score more than one to beat West Ham this weekend because I think the Hammers will score.
I’ve taken a look at both of the teams and I think that both teams will get on the score sheet this weekend. I think ultimately though Arsenal should have enough to get the job done but with the two teams' record against each other favouring West Ham in recent times, this does give them hope of taking some points at Home.
I really wanted to give West Ham a chance here because I think they will give this a real good go this weekend and I do believe they will cause Arsenal plenty of problems again. The issue West Ham face this weekend however is the fact that Arsenal have got plenty of firepower up front and their attacking options for me, will ultimately prove to be the difference.
That being said, with West Ham's record against Arsenal in recent times it does make the 1/2 favourites slightly vulnerable and I think the way to go here would be to take an Arsenal win, but both teams to score. You can 2/1 for this combination and I think that holds very good value.
