West Ham take on London rivals Arsenal in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday evening. The Hammers will be hoping to build on their win against Newcastle, while Arsenal will look to make it three in a row after convincing wins against Forest and Sporting.
It looked like it couldn't get any worse for West Ham after their 3-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest with many fans calling for head coach Julen Lopetegui to be sacked. A 0-0 draw the following week at home to Everton didn't please many either, but perhaps the international break came at a good time for the Spaniard.
No one fancied West Ham to get even a point on their long trip to Newcastle, but the Hammers left with all three, including a clean sheet for the second Premier League match in a row. There's certainly a long way to go, but that was one of their best performances of the season.
Arsenal are nine points behind Liverpool, and no team has ever clawed back such a deficit at this stage in the season and gone on to lift the title in May. However, Mikel Arteta just has to take each game as it comes for the time being, and after picking up a point at Stamford Bridge, they've built on that result.
A comprehensive win against Forest was backed up by a 5-1 demolition job against Sporting midweek in the Champions League. After Sporting hammered Man City, make no mistake that this was a difficult looking fixture on paper.
With Liverpool playing Man City on Sunday, Arsenal will be keen to reduce their lead to six points - and three points at the London Stadium is a must.
The last time these two sides met Arsenal blew West Ham away with a 6-0 win in their own back yard. However, it hasn't always been that simple for the Gunners, who had previously lost their last two matches against their London rivals.
You have to go back to 2022 the last time Arsenal had beaten West Ham in any competition, and that was at the Emirates - West Ham have so often been a bogey time for the title-contenders.
Yet West Ham aren't out of the woods just yet. Although their win against Newcastle has given them some breathing room, they could easily be brought back down to earth against one of the best teams in the league. This will be a huge test for Lopetegui who's job is far from safe.
One could argue that Arsenal's momentum is greater than West Ham's at present, and if the visitors were to go a goal down, they would be more likely to salvage the match than if it was the other way around. With that in mind, let's get to my selection.
West Ham haven't impressed at home, nor have Arsenal on their travels, which might this trickier to call. But Arsenal's last week has been flawless, and the midweek trip was so good for them, they should have a spring in their step rather than feeling leggy.
The fact there were five different goalscorers against Sporting is a sign how the goals can be spread about this time. When they click, it works - and West Ham may struggle to deal with that. Arsenal also pushed Forest to one side, who hadn't previously lost on the road, and the Gunners once again look strong.
Although unbeaten in two, there are still plenty of issues for West Ham to address, in particular in the middle of the park, and if Arsenal win that battle, they should have no issues picking up the three points.
Arsenal are a short price to win this, which is why I'm looking at Kai Havertz. After a mini-goal drought, the forward scored for Germany during the international break and was one of the five that scored against Sporting. If Arsenal's midfield dominate the match, they can find the final ball to play in their number nine.
With bet365's bet builder, I'm advising you to back Arsenal and Kai Havertz to score anytime at 12/5. Good luck to those that follow.
