Two London sides go head to head in the Premier League as West Ham welcome Brentford to the London Stadium.
It has been a torrid start to 2024 for David Moyes’ West Ham side as the Londoners are yet to pick up a victory this calendar year. The Hammers have lost their last three Premier League games, in that time conceding 11 whilst scoring no goals themselves.
Gaffer Moyes will know that his side need a victory against Brentford on Monday night if the pressure is to be eased off the Scotsman. Despite this poor form, the Hammers sit in ninth and are still in control of their own fortunes when it comes to finishing in a European place.
Thomas Frank’s Brentford side have had a torrid time of it of late, having won just two of their last 10 Premier League games and losing the other eight.
The Bees have won just twice in 2024 and haven’t been able to string together back to back wins since they won three on the trot back in late October/early November. The recent poor run of results has seen Brentford in real danger of getting dragged down into the relegation battle with Luton only five points behind them in 18th.
These two sides have played some entertaining fixtures since Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League back in 2021, most recently a five goal thriller at the G-Tech Community Stadium in November.
In the five Premier League fixtures that have been played between the two sides, there has been one team that has dominated proceedings, with Thomas Frank’s Brentford side emerging victorious on all five occasions. West Ham’s only recent competitive win over the Bees was a 1-0 FA Cup victory at the start of 2023, with former Brentford man Said Benrahma netting the winner.
Brentford are very much in the ascendancy when it comes to meetings between these two sides and that will give Thomas Frank’s side a plethora of confidence going into Monday’s fixture. David Moyes however will be hoping to do anything to stop the rot that his side are currently on.
Having looked at the stats and in particular past meetings between these two sides, the tip for this fixture is that Brentford will come away with all three points.
As has been previously mentioned, Brentford have an exceptional record in the Premier League against West Ham, with five games, five wins, no draws and no losses.
The tip for this game is that the Bees will repeat history and again come away with the win to take three points back to West London. The Hammers’ form in 2024 is hard to ignore and is difficult to see when the dreadful run of results will end as West Ham have a few tricky fixtures coming up, with only the game against Burnley the one they will go into as favourites.
From a betting view point, a Brentford win looks to be a sensible option and on Bet 365, it is currently being priced up at very nice price of 2.75. Despite the Bees’ being the away side, it seems the likeliest outcome and is worth a punt.
