Motty brings 'hunger for success' for England, skipper Eoin Morgan says

According to captain Eoin Morgan, England men's white-ball cricket team coach Matthew Mott is expected to hold some of the world's best players accountable.

The partnership between Morgan and Mott, which started with the one-day international against the Netherlands, will be based in the town of Amstelveen.

Morgan, appointed as the England team captain alongside New Zealand's Brendon McCullum, is confident that Mott will be able to carry out his duties with the same passion and commitment that he showed with the women's Australian team.

When it comes to the future of the game of white-ball cricket, Morgan believes that the team's new coach should have the necessary experience to lead them to success. He also believes that Mott will be able to hold his players accountable. Motty received feedback from Trevor Bayliss, who was the former England coach.

"Motty is a guy I've come across not a lot but certainly at Glamorgan and Kent and had a lot of feedback from (former England coach) Trevor Bayliss," Morgan said.

Rob Key splits team's white-ball, red-ball roles

Rob Key, the managing director of England's cricket team, decided to split the roles of the team's white-ball and red-ball groups after the team's disastrous Ashes series.

During his time in charge, Silverwood's reign was blighted by the Covid pandemic and the bio-secure environments that were required during the playing of cricket.

Morgan noted that the prevalence of the Covid pandemic had made it difficult for him to lead the team in all three formats. He said that managing a large number of people on the field and the off-field became too much. With the split roles, the coach now has the opportunity to focus on getting the team focused on getting by.

Morgan refused to reveal his XI for the first One-Day International against New Zealand. However, he is expected to partner Phil Salt with Roy in the middle order. Bairstow was unavailable for the game due to his heroics in the Test series against Australia.

Jos Buttler, Morgan, Liam Livingstone, and Dawid Malan are expected to make up the top order, while the other three players will likely feature in the middle order. The other five left-armers will probably be selected to cover the injured Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Jofra Archer.

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid is expected to be picked for his first international appearance since the 2009 T20 World Cup when England lost to the Netherlands. Both Morgan and Rashid made their international debut that day. Holland also beat England during the 2014 World Cup.

During the post-match press conference, Pieter Seelaar, the home captain, was asked if a hat-trick was possible. He stated that England was in a different mindset then, especially in white-ball cricket. He refused to talk about the series win and said the team focused on competing in the three games.

"How great would that be! But we're playing a different format, England at that time was in a different mind space, especially in white-ball cricket to where they are now," said Seelaar. "If I were to say we were looking to win the series 3-0 I would be stupid but in saying that we're looking to compete in the three games."
