Group C kicks off with Haiti and Scotland clashing in Massachusetts knowing three points will be critical before facing Morocco and Brazil.
Those two nations will meet at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, before Brazil head to Philadelphia and Morocco meet Scotland at the Gillette Stadium in round two.
This group is rather simple in terms of locations, with all games set to take place in the US before potentially advancing to the knockout stage in other host nations.
But is it as simple to predict? World Cup tipster Nathan Joyes talks us through the contenders, with some betting odds at the best World Cup bookmakers.
Brazil, led by Carlo Ancelotti, are amongst the favourites to win the World Cup. Whether that status is deserved is another question, who head to the US after suffering their worst World Cup Qualifiers in 24 years.
Having won half of his 10 games in charge to date, it hasn’t been a prolific start for the Italian, who has divided opinion since his appointment. A serial winner, no doubt, but this is easily his most difficult job to date.
On paper, Brazil’s squad is stacked with talent. In fact, it’s arguably one of the best in world football. Yet Vinicius Junior has never really shown his true talent for his nation, while his Real Madrid teammate Rodrygo will miss out due to injury. Their all-time goalscorer, Neymar, also looks set to miss out with Ancelotti failing to call him up once since his appointment.
Estevao is 50:50 due to his hamstring injury, and while there are plenty of alternatives, the youngster has been their star asset in the final third in the last 12 months. With a more European style than what fans would like to see, Brazil’s sixth World Cup title may be on hold for a further four years.
Waiting for any slip ups are the AFCON champions. Controversial champions, to say the least, but a nation capable of beating most on their day. This is also a nation that, at the time of writing, have gone 26 matches unbeaten inside 90 minutes.
That also includes a draw vs Ecuador and win over Paraguay back in the March international break - two nations that have taken points off Brazil in the last 12 months.
There’s experience and quality across the park. Bono between the sticks, Achraf Hakimi on the right of the defence, Roma’s Neil El Aynaoui in the middle with Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz in a forward role. This squad is well balanced, defensively resilient and yet dangerous on the counter.
On paper, Brazil have a better squad, but Morocco’s togetherness is what could see them produce a shock on US soil this summer.
Despite thoroughly earning their place at the 2026 World Cup, Haiti aren’t expected to pull up any trees - especially against Brazil and Morocco.
They did, however, come through a difficult qualification group that consisted of Honduras, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. At home, they didn’t concede a single goal.
However, ranked 83rd in the world, Haiti suffered a narrow defeat against Tunisia before drawing with Iceland in recent friendlies. Those performances won’t be enough for them to pull off a shock result in the US.
Leading the line will be Esteghlal’s Duckens Nazon who scored four of their 11 goals during their group qualification, who has recently started playing in Iran after two seasons in Turkey with Kayserispor.
Wolves’ Jean-Ricner Bellegarde will have a tough job in the middle of the park but his Premier League experience will prove invaluable to his fellow teammates. Up first they face Scotland, which could well define their tournament.
Scotland haven’t been involved in a World Cup since 1998 where they lost their opening match against Brazil and were eliminated in the group stage.
Although fans will be excited about facing the five-time World champions once more, there’s plenty of work for them to do before then to ensure a place in the knockout stage.
Scotland came through a difficult looking group to be here, finishing above both Greece and Denmark with impressive wins over both nations on home soil.
Friendlies so far haven’t gone to plan with two 1-0 defeats against Ivory Coast and Japan, but with Napoli’s Scott McTominay in the middle and Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson to his left, Scotland will have their opportunities in Group C - who will no doubt be heavily supported in the US.
They must, however, win their opening game against Haiti if they are to have any chance of progressing further. Any further points in this group would be a sizeable shock.
Group winner: Morocco at 11/2 with Betfred
All eyes are firmly on Brazil who are expected to walk this group but their 1/6 price is absolutely not guaranteed. For those who have followed Brazil over the last couple of years, it’s clear it isn’t a confident bet considering how well Morocco performed in the recent AFCON. Champions or not, they were incredibly strong.
Priced at 11/2 to finish in first, Morocco have built a squad capable of springing a surprise. Not everything is a formality at the World Cup - and this could be one of those opportunities that is too good to ignore.
The pressure will be firmly on Brazil to bank nine points but if they fall short, expect Morocco to pounce and secure top place at a huge price. If you're looking for a bet to redeem a betting offer for the World Cup, then Morocco to win Group C could be be good value.
Qualifiers: Scotland
If Scotland can keep their goal difference respectable and beat Haiti in round one, there’s every chance they can make the cut with a best third place finish.
That first game looks absolutely massive for them, but they’ve shown when beating Denmark 4-2 that they have enough quality to win football matches with an immense amount of pressure attached to them.
As long as Brazil or Morocco don’t pull them apart and run riot, Scotland should be expected to make it through to the next round with three points in the bag.
Longshot team to watch: Morocco
If Morocco have the capabilities of topping Group C, then there’s no reason why they can’t have a decent run in the latter stages of the tournament.
The African nation, as mentioned, do not lose often and they have been heavily overlooked due to Brazil’s name in this group - but it would be no surprise to see the AFCON champions have a deep run in this competition - especially with a potential generous draw in the following round against a 3rd placed nation.
