The final round of group matches continues on Saturday as Groups J, K and L reach their conclusion, with knockout places, group winners and third-place finishing positions still to be settled.
Throughout the tournament, Ben Smith has been providing our 2026 World Cup betting tips with a daily acca using BetMGM odds, focusing on player and team statistics, disciplinary markets, shots and other alternative angles rather than match odds.
England are back in action after a frustrating goalless draw with Ghana. It was the complete opposite of their excellent opening performance against Croatia, but Thomas Tuchel remained relaxed afterwards. There may be no need for panic either, given the Three Lions also drew their second group game at each of the last three major tournaments before going on to reach two finals.
Portugal also return after taking a significant step forward in their second outing, inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo's double against Uzbekistan. Colombia now provide a much sterner examination as they look to sign off the group phase with a third straight win.
The late slate sees Argentina attempt to finish Group J in style against Jordan, with Lionel Messi already on a remarkable five goals.
With Panama already out and England already through, pride and group position are the main prizes on offer, and both sides should still take this relatively seriously.
Thomas Tuchel rotated his back four against Ghana, bringing Marc Guehi in alongside Ezri Konsa in central defence.
With England enjoying 79% possession, Guehi and Konsa drew nine fouls between them as Ghana looked to disrupt the Three Lions whenever they tried to build from the back.
Panama could take a similar approach. They have committed 30 fouls across their opening two matches and will not want to bow out of the World Cup quietly.
Whether it is Konsa, Guehi or another defender selected, England can draw fouls in deeper areas. That brings Panama striker Jose Fajardo into play. He is an energetic, combative forward who committed two fouls against Croatia and averages 1.75 per 90, making this line look more than achievable.
Ghana have managed a grand total of nine shots across their first two World Cup matches, yet have already secured qualification with one goal scored and none conceded. It has been vintage Carlos Queiroz pragmatism and, so far, it has worked perfectly.
Croatia's progression is still in the balance with three points and a goal difference of -1, but a draw would be enough for them too. There is also no obvious reward for finishing second given the likely round of 32 opponents, so neither side has much incentive to turn this into an open contest.
That points towards a cagey affair. Croatia managed just six shots against Panama and asking them to more than double that total against such a well-organised Ghana side looks a big ask.
Backing fouls on Colombia's most dangerous attacker, Luis Diaz, has been an angle I've liked throughout this tournament and I'm happy to revisit it here with Joao Cancelo likely to be his direct opponent.
Cancelo has committed two fouls in each of Portugal's opening matches, so asking him to repeat that against one of the world's best dribblers looks perfectly reasonable at odds against.
With both nations already through, there should be a little more freedom than usual. Hopefully that leads to an open game where Diaz has plenty of opportunities to isolate Cancelo and force the Portugal full-back into making multiple fouls.
Opposing cards has worked well throughout this World Cup and this looks another good opportunity to do so.
Argentina and Jordan have collected just three cards between them across their opening two matches, while referee Istvan Kovacs kept his cards in his pocket during his only assignment of the tournament, Japan's 4-0 win over Tunisia. This could follow a similar pattern. If Argentina control the game as expected, there may be little need for Jordan to turn it into a scrap, while Argentina should not have to force anything either. Under 1.5 total cards looks worth chancing.
England's ability to draw fouls from deep areas makes Jose Fajardo's line appealing, while Ghana's disciplined approach could keep Croatia's shot count lower than expected. Luis Diaz remains one of the tournament's most capable foul winners, giving Joao Cancelo plenty to think about, and another low-card contest is expected when Argentina meet Jordan.
Combined, the four selections create odds of 34/1 with BetMGM.
