World Cup Accumulator Tips

The World Cup knockout stage is gathering pace and Monday delivered its first major shock as Germany were dumped out by Paraguay in Foxborough.

After a 1-1 draw, Julian Nagelsmann's side trailed in the shootout but survived three Paraguay match points before their luck finally ran out. Jonathan Tah blazed over, allowing Jose Canale to pick out the top corner and send Paraguay into the last 16.

Brazil survived a huge scare earlier in the day. Japan took the lead and looked capable of producing an upset before Casemiro equalised and Gabriel Martinelli struck deep into stoppage time to send Carlo Ancelotti's side through.

Germany's exit has opened up France's side of the draw. The two European giants had been on course to meet in the last 16, but if Didier Deschamps' men can overcome Sweden, Paraguay now stand between them and a quarter-final. Unsurprisingly, France have strengthened at the head of the outright market.

Tuesday's schedule features another Scandinavian nation, with Norway taking on Ivory Coast for the right to face Brazil, while co-hosts Mexico round off the day's action against Ecuador at the Azteca.

Throughout the tournament, World Cup tipster Ben Smith has been providing our 2026 World Cup betting tips with a daily acca using BetMGM odds, focusing on player props, shots, cards and other stats-based markets rather than traditional match result and total goals betting.

Ivory Coast v Norway - David Moller Wolfe Over 1.5 Fouls (6/5)

Norway have been one of the more physical teams at this World Cup. They committed 13 fouls in both of their group-stage victories and made 12 in their final warm-up match against Morocco. Even in the defeat to France, where they made wholesale changes and clearly had one eye on the knockout rounds, they still conceded 10 free-kicks.

David Moller Wolfe was among those rested against France, but he made five fouls across his first two starts of the tournament and another two against Morocco. He regularly gets through plenty of defensive work and, at odds against, appeals to concede a couple of fouls here.

Much depends on Amad Diallo starting on the right of the Ivory Coast's attack. The Manchester United winger draws 1.4 fouls per 90 and has the pace and close control to repeatedly isolate Wolfe in one-on-one situations, making this an appealing matchup.

France v Sweden - Kylian Mbappe & Ousmane Dembele to Score (3/1)

Sweden's defence is seriously vulnerable and the loss of Isak Hien to injury only weakens it further. The Netherlands are the only side so far to fully capitalise, putting five past Graham Potter's team, while Tunisia lacked the quality and Japan had little reason to force the issue.

France won't need a second invitation. They have already hit double figures for goals at this World Cup, with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele responsible for four apiece.

That front line looks a nightmare for this Sweden defence. Dembele has the quality to unlock a low block if Graham Potter's side sit in, while Mbappe is devastating in behind if they are forced to chase the game, which feels likely at some stage given how poorly they have defended.

I like both players to find the net and would not put anyone off backing Mbappe or Dembele for 2+ separately either.

Mexico v Ecuador - Alan Franco to Get a Card (23/10)

Mexico progressed to the knockout stage comfortably after winning all three group matches without conceding. Javier Aguirre's side are unbeaten in 11 games and have given opponents very little to work with, while returning to the Azteca only strengthens their chances.

Ecuador needed a final-day win over Germany to reach the last 32 after drawing blanks in their opening two matches. They've been difficult to break down for some time, though, with low-scoring games becoming a regular feature of their recent results.

This feels like one of the tighter last-32 ties, but that does not mean it will lack bite. Ecuador's three group matches produced 4, 6 and 4 yellow cards, comfortably above the tournament average.

Mexico have hardly been shrinking violets either, committing 34 fouls across their three outings including an opening match that saw three red cards.

Julian Quinones is the man I want to focus on. The winger draws more than three fouls per 90 for Mexico and should spend much of the evening running at Ecuador right-back Alan Franco. Franco was booked against Germany and has already committed six fouls at this World Cup, making him an appealing candidate to go into the referee's notebook.

Accumulator Odds 29/1

This acca combines a few angles that look well supported by the match-ups. Norway's physical approach points towards another busy night for David Moller Wolfe, France's star attackers look primed to exploit Sweden's poor defence, and Julian Quinones' ability to draw fouls gives Alan Franco every chance of ending up in the book.

Combined, the three selections make a 29/1 acca with BetMGM.
