By the time we reach the World Cup Quarter-finals, we’re on the precipice of crowning a new champion. We’re deep into what many consider football’s foremost international tournament – and the best is yet to come.
The FIFA 2022 Quarter-finals aren’t just where we begin to see which contenders remain in the fight for sporting immortality: they’re also vital fixtures you won’t want to miss. This page is to ensure you don’t have to, by providing all the key dates, times and info you need to enjoy the Qatar 2022 Quarter-finals.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup Quarter-finals will take place on the 9th and 10th December. Each day will feature two different games.
The 9th December will see the winners of game 53 take on the winners of game 54 at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan at 3pm. It will also see the winners of game 49 take on the winners of game 50 at Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail at 7pm.
Meanwhile, the 10th December will see winners of game 55 take on the winners of game 56 at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha at 3pm. It will also see the winners of game 51 take on the winner of game 52 at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
In a nutshell, that’s all you need to know to understand the answer to the question ‘When are the World Cup Quarter-finals?’
The World Cup Quarter-finals are the second part of the knock-out phase of this tournament. That means that a draw is not possible and extra time and then penalties will be used to ensure a winner is crowned, should the game not be settled in normal play.
The winners of the Quarter-finals see the remaining potential champions go from eight to four and move onto the Semi-finals World Cup fixtures. These matches will go down on the 13th and 14th December.
The winners of these games will then go on to face off in the World Cup Finals, which will take place on a historic Sunday 18th November.
The simple answer to this question is that we don’t currently know who the teams in the Quarter-finals will be for sure at the time of writing. The way we find out is through the group stages, and then the Round of 16.
The group stages sees both winners and runners-up of their group move onto the Round of 16. This takes place from the 20th November to the 2nd December. The Round of 16 is also in a knockout format, and cuts the field down to the eight teams you’ll find in the FIFA 2022 World Cup Quarter-finals.
Amongst those considered most likely to make the World Cup Quarter-finals 2022 are England, Brazil, France, Spain, Netherlands, Argentina, Germany and Portugal. There are already FIFA 2022 betting markets available on who will make it this far.
For England to make it to the Quarter-finals, they’d need to make it through Group B, which also includes Iran, the USA and Wales. They would then need to defeat a team from Group A in the Round of 16. Group A includes Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal and Netherlands. They’re considered likely to make it through to the Quarter-finals based on the competition and their recent form in big tournaments, but there are no guarantees.
We can’t for sure tell you who will make it this far into the World Cup – although some are certainly more likely than others. And while we can say there are many interesting betting markets to choose from, we also can’t be certain beyond doubt that any prediction will come true.
What we can be sure of, though, is that sporting history will be made in the World Cup Quarter-finals, no matter the teams involved. And we’re pretty certain great football will be played, pulses quickened, and memories cemented on the grandest of stages. It’s an event that football and betting fans alike won’t want to miss – and by paying attention to the information on this page, you won’t have to.
